Today’s post is particularly about one song. It’s called Marian and features on the album titled “First And Last And Always” which was released by The Sisters Of Mercy in 1985. It’s a Wayne Hussey composition with lyrics written by Andrew Eldritch who recalls that “Marian is a very special song, it’s not like any of the other songs. I wrote it in ten minutes, usually the lyrics take me up to half a year”. Marian was covered by many  various  artists and  it achieved some kind of cult status  on  the gothic  music  scene.  In  conclusion,  I recommend to watch and listen to original album version of this song and one of these covers made by Belgian band Poesie Noire ( links below ).

Ed Sheeran- Folk and acoustic

Ed Sheeran- Lovely Redhead!

Ed Sheeran jest to brytyjski piosenkarz, autor tekstów i producent. Urodził się 17 lutego 1991r.  w Halifax, więc jest dośc młodym muzykiem, który szybko został doceniony w świecie show- biznesu. W 2005r. Ed zaczął nagrywac pierwsze utwory. Następnie przeniósł się do Londynu, by kontynuowac swoją karierę muzyczną. Co prawda większą popularnośc Sheeran zdobył w 2011r. po nagraniu pierwszego singla The A Team. Następnie powstał debiutancki album Eda zatytułowany '' + " , który uzyskał w Wielkiej Brytanii status czterokrotnej platyny, rozchodząc się w ponad 1,200,000 egzemplarzy!

Ed Sheeran is an british singer- songwriter and producer. He was born 17 february 1991 in Halifax, so he is quite a young musician who was quickly recognized in the world of show business. In 2005
Ed began recording his first songs. Then he moved to London to continue his singing career.
Sheeran gained more popularity in 2011. after recording his first single The A Team. This was followed by Ed's debut album, entitled'' + ", which has gained  in the UK four times platinum statusand sold out in over 1,200,000 copies worldwide!

Hanoi Rocks – Rock'n'roll Divorce

Today’s post is a reminiscence of Finnish export rock band Hanoi Rocks. Formed in Helsinki, Finland in 1979 by Micheal Monroe ( Matti Fagerholm, vocals, saxophone ) and his friends Andy McCoy ( Antti Hulkko, guitars ), Nasty Suicide ( Jan Stenfors, guitars ), Sammi Yaffa ( Sami Takamaki, bass ). Last addition to them was Gipsy Casino ( Jesper Sporre, drums ) who joined the band in Stockholm in 1980. After some hard time when they struggled due to lack money or contract with record company finally in 1981 they released their first full-length album “Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks”. In the meantime they were touring extensively all over Finland and Sweden. By 1982 they moved to London and released albums “Oriental Beat” and “Self Destruction Blues”. Then Razzle ( Nick Dingley, drums ) replaced Gipsy Casino and it was beginning of their worldwide career. Following two studio albums “Back To Mystery City”, “Two Steps From The Move” and a lived album “All Those Wasted Years” were well accepted and sold in million copies all over the world. The band went on tours in Japan, mainland Asia (India, HongKong, Vietnam) and Europe ( UK, Norway, Sweden, native Finland ). But gigs in America in 1984 seemed to be their breakthrough tour. They played west coast in November and looked for Los Angeles shows which were all sold out in less than half an hour. But then came the tragic death of Razzle in a car accident nearby Redondo Beach, California. Tour dates were cancelled, the worldwide success passed them by. Hanoi Rocks disbanded next year after the short tour in Poland with Terry Chimes (ex-The Clash)on drums. Their last concert in Poznań, Poland in May’85 was recorded and released as a live album titled “Rock’n’roll Divorce”. The band was reactivated in 2003 by Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy, released next two albums, made some gigs and finally came to an end in 2009. Dzisiejszy post poświęcony jest fińskiej eksportowej grupie rockowej Hanoi Rocks. Założony w Helsinkach, Finlandia w 1979 roku w składzie Michael Monroe ( oryginalnie Matti Fagerholm, wokal, saksofon), Andy McCoy (oryginalnie Antti Hulkko, gitary), Nasty Suicide (oryginalnie Jan Stenfors, gitary), Sammi Jaffa ( oryginalnie Sami Takamaki, bass). Jako ostatni dołączył do nich Gipsy Casino (oryginalnie Jesper Sporre, perkusja) w Sztokholmie w 1980 roku. Początkowy okres to spore trudności powodowane brakiem pieniędzy oraz kontraktu z jakąkolwiek wytwórnią płytową. Jednakże w 1981 roku udało im się w końcu wydać ich pierwszy pełny album "Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks". W międzyczasie zespół intensywnie koncertuje po Szwecji i Finlandii. Ale w 1982 roku muzycy przenoszą się ostatecznie do Londynu, gdzie nagrywają i wydają kolejne płyty długogrające "Oriental Beat" i "Self Destruction Blues". Kariera ich nabiera rozpędu, po tym jak grającego na perkusji Gipsa Casino zastąpił Brytyjczyk Razzle (oryginalnie Nick Dingley). Dwa ich kolejne studyjne albumy "Back To Mystery City" oraz "Two Steps From The Move", jak również koncertowy album "All Those Wasted Years" przyjęte zostają bardzo dobrze i rozchodzą się w milionach egzemplarzy na całym świecie. Zespół udanie koncertuje w Japonii, kontynentalnej Azji (Indie, Hongkong, Wietnam) i Europie (Wielka Brytania, Norwegia, Szwecja, rodzima Finlandia). Przełomowe w ich karierze wydają się być koncerty z listopada 1984 roku w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Dobrze odbierani w kolejnych miastach na zachodnim wybrzeżu tego kraju szykują się na entuzjastyczne przyjęcie w Los Angeles, gdzie wszystkie bilety na ich koncerty zostały wysprzedane w mniej niż pół godziny. Jednakże w przeddzień pierwszego występu, w wypadku samochodowym w pobliżu Redondo Beach, Kalifornia ginie Razzle. Planowane koncerty zostały odwołane, a światowy sukces przeszedł obok nich. Hanoi Rocks uległ rozwiązaniu w kolejnym roku, po krótkiej trasie koncertowej w Polsce, podczas której na perkusji wspomógł ich Terry Chimes (ex-The Clash). Ich ostatni koncert w Polsce, na festiwalu Rock Arena w Poznaniu został nagrany i wydany jako płyta koncertowa zatytułowana "Rock'n'Roll Divorce". Zespół został reaktywowany ponownie w 2003 roku przez dwóch jego liderów Michaela Monroe i Andy McCoya, wydał dwa kolejne studyjne albumy, trochę koncertował i wreszcie zakończył swą działalność w 2009 roku. Konkludując, polecam do oglądnięcia i posłuchania kilku ich starszych utworów w wersjach koncertowych, m.in. z trasy po Polsce w 1985 roku, osobiście byłem na ich koncercie w Kielcach (linki poniżej)

„You Will Find Them In The Basement” - London modern synth wave scene

Today’s post is about an album released by French electronic label Desire Records in March 2013. This compilation album was prepared by the artists sharing the same or similar music interests and choices, mainly to document the atmosphere and sounds from basements of music clubs located in Hackney and Dalston, East London. Therefore it can be described as the overview of the modern synth wave groups from the London underground scene.

This record was pressed only in vinyl and its tracklist is as follows :

I would like to pay special attention to four of these artists like A Terrible Splendour, Lebanon Hanover, Linea Aspera ( unfortunately now disbanded ) and Gertrud Stein. Especially, the first of them, A Terrible Splendour has a big potential to grow up musically and achieve well deserved success. This is duo, MM Lyle ( vocals, synthesizers ) and Martin Block ( vocals, synthesizers ), and they released last year an album titled “Poseurs”. In conclusions, I truly recommend to listen to all these artists which songs were compiled on this album. Also I recommend to watch and listen a few tracks from album “Poseurs” by A Terrible Splendour and one track by Linea Aspera "Attica" ( links below )

Fever Ray is a solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson, once a singer with pop band Honey Is Cool and next a half of The Knife which she formed with his brother Olof. The Knife released three full-lenght albums which were very successful, especially the third "Silent Shout" went to number one in Sweden and won six Swedish Grammys. After them the sister-brother duo decided to take some time apart, but in the meantime Karin have written only by herself new songs which were collected on her solo album "Fever Ray", released in 2009. Summer Darkness Festival, Utrecht, the Netherlands

Summer Darkness Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands

Today's post is about one of the finest rock festivals in Europe - Summer Darkness Festival in Utrecht in The Netherlands. Now it's the 11th edition of this festival which is located in the gothic city centre of Utrecht. It started yesterday but, in my opinion, the best is yet to come today and tomorrow. In today's program there are, as one of the main attractions Dutch goth veterans Clan Of Xymox and as one of their supports Turkish band She Past Away, which I presented in one of my earlier posts. Tomorrow is the third and final day of this festival and in the schedule we see bands like The Essence, Scarlett Soho, Sophya, Apoptygma Berzerk and Sixth June from Serbia. Wish I were there tomorrow. In conclusion, I recommend as usually Sixth June and this time is their song "Come Closer" ( link below ).

Uświadomiłam sobie, że Kraftwerk jest autorem utworu, który ma bardzo pokaźną liczbę coverów, prawdopodobnie jest jednym z najczęściej przerabianych utworów w branży muzycznej w ciągu ostatnich trzydziestu lat. „Das Model” lub jego anglojęzyczna wersja „The Model” został nagrany przez ten zespół w 1978 roku i umieszczony na albumie „Die Mensch-Maschine” oraz wydany na singlu w Niemczech, nie odnosząc w tym czasie większego sukcesu. Powtórnie został wydany w lipcu 1981 roku jako B-strona singla „Computer Love”, a po tym jak prezenterzy brytyjskich stacji radiowych często umieszczali go na swoich playlistach, EMI wydało go powtórnie w grudniu już jako A-strona. Sukces był natychmiastowy i niebotyczny, singiel dotarł do pierwszego miejsca na brytyjskiej liście przebojów, a w sumie przebywał na niej przez 21 tygodni. Niemal natychmiast pojawiły się liczne wersje tej piosenki nagrywane przez wykonawców dosłownie z całego świata, w różnych stylach muzycznych i językach. Myślę, że wersji wydanych na płytach jest około stu. Spośród nich zaciekawił mnie cover nagrany przez angielską grupę Poeme Electronique w 1983 roku. Konkludując, polecam do oglądnięcia i posłuchania oryginał Krafwerku i udaną kopię Poeme Electronique ( linki poniżej ).

Poesie Noire - Cold Wave from Belgium

Dziś krótki post o zespole Poesie Noire z Belgii. Zespół ten istniał w latach 1984-1992, a jego główny trzon stanowili  Jo Casters ( vocals, guitar, bass ),  Marianne Valvekens ( keyboards, vocals ) oraz  Hermann Gillis ( guitars ). Nagrali wspólnie 15 albumów i mini-albumów oraz 18 singli, a także kilka kompilacji i płyt koncertowych. Ostatni album wydali po dłuższej przerwie w 2010 roku. Początkowo ich muzykę można określić mianem EBM lub industrial rock ale z upływem lat zaczęli tworzyć bardziej przystępny w odbiorze synthpop silnie naznaczony cold wave, czasami przechodzący w dark wave, czy wręcz w gothic rock. Za najbardziej zasługujący na wyróżnienie uważam ich album z 1989 roku "Love Is Colder Than Death". Konkludując, polecam do posłuchania i oglądnięcia kilka utworów z tej płyty, szczególnie tytułowy "Love Is Colder Than Death", a także "Aura Of Sadness", "Taste Of Candy", "No Beach", "Deja Vu" ( linki poniżej ).

Poesie Noire - Cold Wave from Belgium

Today, a short post about Poesie Noire, a new wave act from Belgium. This band was actice in years 1984-1992, and their permanent members were Jo Casters (vocals, guitar, bass), Marianne Valvekens (keyboards, vocals) and Hermann Gillis (guitars). They recorded 15 albums and mini-albums and 18 singles, as well as several compilation CDs and concerts. Their last album was released after a long break in 2010. Initially, their music can be described as EBM and industrial rock but over the years they were oscillating to create more affordable in reception synthpop strongly marked by the cold wave, sometimes fading to dark wave, and even the gothic rock. Ina my opinion their best work which is worth to mention was album "Love Is Colder Than Death" released in 1989. In conclusion, I recommend to watch and listen to a few songs from this album, especially the title song "Love Is Colder Than Death", and "Aura Of Sadness", "Taste Of Candy", "No Beach", "Deja Vu" (links below) .

Trudno zdefiniować jednym zdaniem jaką muzykę tworzył zespół Daisy Chainsaw. Określano ją jako punk rock, garage rock, noise rock z elementami folku i muzyki eksperymentalnej. Zespół stworzyli w 1989 roku Katie Jane Garside ( vocals ) oraz Crispin Gray ( guitars ), a owocem ich spotkania był album "Eleventeen" oraz single "LoveSickPleasure", "Pink Flower", "Hope Your Dreams Come True", które osiągnęły umiarkowany sukces na listach przebojów. Do historii przeszły natomiast ich ekspresyjne, dzikie koncerty, ocierające się o szaleństwo. Katie Jane Garside opuściła Gray'a w 1993 roku, a zespół z nową wokalistką w osobie Belindy Leith wydał jeszcze jeden album "For They Know Not What They Do" z 1994 roku uzupełniony singlem "You're Grousome" z 1995 roku, które jednak były mało udane i przeszły niezauważone. Konkludując, polecam do oglądnięcia i posłuchania trzy utwory zespołu w składzie z Garside :

P.S. Katie Jane Garside i Crispin Gray utworzyli w 1998 roku zespół Queen Adreena, który do 2009 wydał kilka albumów i szereg singli, udanie również koncertując. Obecnie Katie Jane Garside mieszka wraz ze swoim mężem Chrisem Wittinghamem i ich dziećmi na łodzi, którą w 2012 roku przepłynęli Atlantyk. Jednocześnie wraz z mężem nagrała trzy albumy pod nazwą Ruby Throat.

It’s hard to describe what kind of music was created by english band Daisy Chainsaw. It could be classified as punk rock, garage rock, noise rock with elements of folk and experimental music, etc. Daisy Chainsaw came to life in 1989 when Katie Jane Garside (vocals) met Crispin Gray (guitars). The result of their meeting was one full-length album "Eleventeen" and several singles "LoveSickPleasure", "Pink Flower", "Hope Your Dreams Come True", which achieved moderate success on UK hit charts. But they were notorious mainly of their wild concerts which touching madness. Katie Jane Garside left Gray in 1993, and the band with a new singer in the person of Belinda Leith released another album, "For They Know Not What They Do" in 1994 and another single "You're Grousome" in 1995, however they were gone completely unnoticed. In conclusion, I recommend to watch and listen to three songs from their first album, sung by Garside:

Frazier Chorus - Synthpop velvet anarchists

Frazier Chorus, czteroosobowa grupa muzyczna z Brighton ( południowa Anglia ), której okres działalności przypadł na lata 1986 - 1996. Wydali trzy płyty długogrające oraz kilka singli, które osiagnęły umiarkowany sukces na listach przebojów. Pierwsze dwa albumy "Sue" z 1989 roku oraz "Ray" z 1991 roku nagrał cały zespół dla wytwórni Virgin Records, natomiast trzeci "Wide Awake" z 1996 wydany przez małą wytwórnię niezależną Pure Records to projekt autorski charyzmatycznego lidera tego zespołu Tima Freemana. Tworzona przez Frazier Chorus muzyka to melodyjny synthpop z elementami shoegaze i dreampop. Ciekawostką w ich dorobku artystycznym jest cover utworu "Anarchy in the UK" The Sex Pistols w wersji bardzo wygładzonej, wręcz eterycznej. Konkludując polecam do posłuchania i oglądnięcia trzy piosenki : "Dream Kitchen", "Forgetful" i wspomniany "Anarchy in the UK" ( linki poniżej ).

Frazier Chorus. a four-piece group from Brighton ( south England ), active in years 1986 - 1996. They released three albums and several singles which achieved moderate chart success. Their first two albums "Sue" from 1989 and "Ray" from 1991 were created by complete band and released by Virgin Records. The third album "Wide Awake" released by small independent label Pure Records in 1996 was more a solo project of the charismatic band leader Tim Freeman. Frazier Chorus's music is classic synthpop with elements from shoegaze and dreampop. A little gem in their songlist is a cover of The Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK" made in soft, polished and almost etheric style. In conclusion, I recommend to listen and watch three songs : "Dream Kitchen", "Forgetful" and mentioned above "Anarchy in the UK" ( links below ).

W dzisiejszym poście dwie wersje jednego utworu "How Soon Is Now". Oryginał z 1984 roku zespołu The Smiths oraz jego cover nagrany w 2003 roku przez rosyjską dziewczęcą grupę t.a.T.u. Utwór ten i wykorzystany w nim charakterystyczny gitarowy riff na trwale wszedł do historii muzyki rockowej, tak bardzo, że ma nawet własną rozbudowaną stronę w wikipedii. Wersja t.a.Tu. jest na tyle ciekawie zagrana i zaaranżowana, że nawet Morrissey uznał ja za absolutnie wspaniałą. W dzisiejszym poście lekkiej i nastrojowej muzyki ciąg dalszy. Wiąże się to z wydaniem przez zespół Johny Hates Jazz nowego albumu "Magnetized", dopiero trzeciego w ich dorobku artystycznym po wcześniejszych "Turn Back The Clock" z 1988 roku i "Tall Stories" z 1991 roku. Zespół obecnie tworzą Clark Datchler (vocal, keyboards, piano) oraz Mike Nocito (guitar, bass), którzy wraz z Calvinem Hayesem (drums) byli odpowiedzialni za pierwszy ich album, multiplatynowy z kilkoma światowymi hitami "Shattered Dreams", "Heart Of Gold", "I Don't Want To Be A Hero", "Turn Back The Clock", "Don' Say It's Love". Na drugim albumie "Tall Stories" Clarka Datchlera zastapił nowy wokalista Phil Thornalley, a największym przebojem stał sie utwór "Let Me Change Your Mind Tonight". Muzykę ich można określić jako niezwykle wysublimowany, czy też wyrafinowany pop-rock, nienagannie i bogato zaaranżowany z krystalicznie czystym brzmieniem. Konkludując, polecam do oglądnięcia i posłuchania dwa utwory, wspomniane powyżej : "Let Me Change Your Mind Tonight" oraz "Magnetized" ( linki poniżej ).

Today's post is the next one with light and romantic music. This is due to the release of a new album by the band Johnny Hates Jazz. It’s titled “Magnetized" and it’s only third one in their account after two album releasing some twenty years earlier "Turn Back The Clock" in 1988 and "Tall Stories" in 1991. Nowadays this band contains of Clark Datchler (vocals, keyboards, piano) and Mike Nocito (guitar, bass), who along with Calvin Hayes (drums) were responsible for their first multiplatinium album with several worldwide hits like "Shattered Dreams", "Heart Of Gold "," I Do not Want To Be A Hero "," Turn Back The Clock "," Don 'Say It's Love ". On the second album, "Tall Stories" Clark Datchlera was replaced by a new vocalist Phil Thornalley. The most notorious song from this album was "Let Me Change Your Mind Tonight". Their music can be described as a very sophisticated or refined pop-rock,  lavishly arranged with crystal clear sound. Początek lat 80. Austriacki- Amerykanin Stephan S. urodzony we Wiedniu gra na fortepianie już od 4 lat.

Koniec lat 80. Przeniesiony do Zachodniej Wirginii zaczyna grać na swoim ulubionym instrumencie (teraz 5 lat), gitarze.

Połowa lat 90. Stephan wraca do Wiednia gdzie pisze pierwsze piosenki i doświadcza udziału w zespole.

Koniec lat 90. Stephan odkrywa syntezatory, także samplery i mocno skupia się na tworzeniu muzyki w wyniku licznych ofert płytowych osiąga wczesny międzynarodowy sukces w świecie muzyki klubowej.

 W końcu, po dziewięciu latach występów w różnych projektach muzycznych, remiksowaniach Stephan S. wreszcie tworzy swój własny solowy projekt Lost in Desire, pomijając różne komercyjne formaty, po prostu wyrażając emocje- ciężkie i dramatyczne- takie jak czują do niego. 

Pierwsze nagrania demo LiD siegają 2006r. Album składa się głównie z gitary akustycznej, później zostaje rozszerzony do wszystkich instrumentów, na których Stephan lubi grać. Został stworzony unikalny, dramatyczny dźwięk pasji wokalnej Stephana. Na początku 2009r. rozpoczęły się pierwsze nagrania do debiutanckiego albumu LiD. 

2010r.- Album gotowy do wydania. Zespół jest tworzony. Pierwsza dołączyła oszałamiająca siostra Stephana Sonja grająca na klawiszach, a następnie dołączył grzmiący basista Mark wypełniający zespół. Wreszcie w 2012r. perkusista Dave dołączył, aby dostarczyć ostateczny cios.

 Early 80’s, Austrian-American Stephan S. born in Vienna playing piano as early as 4. Late 80s, brought to West-Virginia, introduced to his now favorite instrument at the age of 5, the guitar. Mid 90s, back in Vienna first songwriting and band experiences. Late 90s, Stephan discovers synthesizers, samplers and starts to heavily focus on music production resulting in numerous record deals and early international success in the world of club music


Finally, after nine years of performing in various music projects, producing artists, and remixing,Stephan S. finally creates his own personal solo project: Lost in Desire; disregarding any commercial formats, simply expressing emotion, as heavy and dramatic as they feel to him.


The first demo recordings of LiD date back to 2006, composed mainly on the acoustic guitar, later augmented with all instruments Stephan likes and plays. A unique, dramatic sound backing Stephan's passionate vocals was created. Early 2009, Stephan started recording the first tracks of the LiD debut album.

2010, Album ready for release, the LiD live band is created. First to join, Stephan’s stunning sister Sonja working the keys, followed by thundering bass player Mark to complete the band. Finally in 2012 drumming power house Dave joined in, to deliver the ultimate punch.

Leniwie upływajace popołudnie i spokój w pogodzie kojąco oddziaływuja na układ nerwowy człowieka. Kolejnym elementem tej układanki jest delikatna, nastrojowa muzyka. Dzisiaj odkryłam,ze taką muzykę tworzy od kilku lat Katerina Papachristou i jej zespół Tango With Lions. Zespół ten wydał dwa albumy : "Verba Time" i "A Long Walk", na których znalazły się niemal wyłącznie utwory autorstwa Kateriny, która zarówno komponuje muzykę, jak również pisze do niej własne teksty. Każda jej piosenka jest krótkim zamkniętym opowiadaniem, którego motywem jest często senne marzenie, czy też podróż w czasie. Konkludując, polecam do posłuchania i oglądnięcia dwa utwory ( po jednym z każdego albumu ) "House On Fire" i "Obituary" ( linki poniżej ).

Lazy summer afternoon and excellent soothing weather affects positively on human nervous system. Another important part of this jigsaw is delicate, romantic music. Today I discovered the music created by Katerina Papachristou and her Athens-based Greek band/project Tango With Lions. They released two albums: "Verba Time" (2010) and "A Long Walk" (2013), which contain almost exclusively works by Katerina, who both composes music as well as writing her own lyrics. Each her song seems to be a closed short story, its theme is often a dream or travel in time. In conclusion, I recommend to listen and watch two her songs (one from each album) "House On Fire" and "Obituary" (links below).

Dudnienie młotów udarowych, którymi ekipa remontująca budynek, w którym mieści się moje biuro skuwała betonowe elewacje, a w tle jazgot szlifierek i pił, którymi inna ekipa docinała kostkę brukową i krawężniki poddał mi pomysł na dzisiejszy post. Tematem jego jest rock industrialny, którego sztandarowym przedstawicielem był zespół Kowalski. Ten niemiecki zespół, który tworzyło czterech muzyków z Kolonii, Bochum i Wuppertalu można uznać za pionierów tego gatunku muzycznego. Stworzona przez nich w latach 1982-1984 muzyka była niezwykle awangardowa, a przez to ponadczasowa. Wtedy nikt tak nie grał, stąd pomimo, że zespół występował na dużych festiwalach rockowych i w renomowanych klubach muzycznych Europy to światowy sukces go ominął. Pozostawił po sobie jedną płytę długogrającą oraz kilka singli, a zawarta tam muzyka wcale się nie zestarzała i brzmi jakby była produktem stworzonym obecnie. Zespół przypomniał się w tym roku, wydając kolejna płytę z niepublikowanymi wcześniej utworami, którą promował jedynym swym koncertem w dniu 19 stycznia 2013 roku w Bochum. The rumble of pneumatic hammers which were using by workers who are renovating the building where my office is located and clamour of grinders and sews which another workers were cutting  concrete pavers and curbs gave me the idea for today's post. Post’s main theme is industrial rock, whose flagship representative was German band Kowalski. This band, which consisted of four musicians from Cologne, Bochum and Wuppertal can be considered the pioneers of this music genre. Music that was created by them in the years 1982-1984 was very avant-garde and so timeless. Noone has played like them in these years, so even though the band has performed at major rock festivals and renowned music clubs in all over Europe, the global success passed them by. They left one full length album and several singles, produced by Conny Plank, which hardly grew old and it sounds like it was a product created today. They reminded of themselves this year, releasing another album of previously unreleased songs, but sadly they promoted it giving only one concert on 19 January 2013 in Bochum. In conclusion I recommend to listen one of their best songs called “Liliom” ( links below ) :

Shalamar - A Night to remember, a Dance not to forget

Rok 1982. Lipcowa gorąca noc. BBC emituje swój cotygodniowy program "Top Of The Pops", a w nim dwudziestka najlepiej się sprzedających w tym okresie singli. Pozycja nr 5 to zespół Shalamar z utworem "A Night To Remember". Lecz zamiast normalnego dla tego programu, czyli z playbacku, występu całego zespołu, na parkiecie pojawia się tylko jeden z jego wokalistów, a mianowicie Jeffrey Daniel.  Następne trzy minuty to pokaz jego niewiarygodnego tańca ochrzczonego później mianem "Moonwalk dance". Konkludując, polecam do oglądnięcia i posłuchania :

July 1982. The hot summer night. The BBC broadcasts its weekly program "Top of the Pops" which presenting twenty best-selling singles in UK at that moment. Peaked at number 5 is the New York based group Shalamar with the song "A Night To Remember". But instead of the performance ( from playback ) of the hole group, which is typical for this show, only one of all its members, a vocalist Jeffrey Daniel steps on the dancefloor in the studio. Next three minutes belong to him and he shows his incredible dance skills later dubbed as the "moonwalk dance".
