The Soft Moon - Insides

This track is taken from The Soft Moon's album titled "Zeros" released last year by an American indie record label Captured Tracks. The Soft Moon was founded in 2009 as a solo musical project by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Luis Vasquez. However after releasing two singles and prior to release first full-length album he built around this project a band consisting of Damon Way (synthesizers), Justin Anastasi (bass guitar), Kevin Tecon (drums) having in mind live performances. The Soft Moon's music can be classified as merge of post punk, shoegaze, darkwave, psychedelia.

Polecany tym postem utwór pochodzi z albumu "Zeros" nagranego przez rezydujący w Oakland (USA) zespół The Soft Moon. Zespół ten powstał w 2009 roku, początkowo jak solowy projekt Luisa Vasqueza, jednakże po wydaniu dwóch dobrze przyjętych na rynku muzycznym singli i tuż przed wydaniem pierwszej płyty długogrającej Vasquez zebrał wokół siebie kolejnych muzyków w osobach Damona Waya (klawisze), Justina Anastasi (gitara basowa) i Kevina Tecona (perkusja), mając na względzie planowane koncert promujące te wydawnictwa. Tworzona przez zespół muzyka jest mieszanką wielu stylów, w tym post punku, shoegaze, darkwave, czy psychodelii. W dniu 2.08.2013 zespół dał niesamowity koncert podczas OFF Festival w Katowicach.

Xiu - Why We're Gone

Xiu is a solo project based in Milan, Italy and formed by Oksana Rodionova (Xiu). Born in Estonia, Oksana has classical music education and for several years she also sang in the church choir in Russia. After studies she became part of the underground musical scene focused on electronic minimal sounds, classified as cold wave or synth wave. She also collaborated with the minimal-synth bands like Newclear Waves and Cold Colors. Under the moniker Xiu she released two albums "Dancing Voodoo" and "Xiu".

Xiu jest solowym projektem muzycznym Oksany Rodionowej. Urodzona w Estonii Oksana posiada klasyczne wykształcenie muzyczne, ponadto przez kilka lat śpiewała w chórze kościelnym. Później jednak jej zainteresowania muzyczne przesunęły ją do środowiska twórców awangardowej muzyki elektronicznej. Współpracowała w tym okresie z takimi zespołami jak Newclear Waves i Cold Colors. Natomiast jako Xiu nagrała dwa albumy "Dancing Voodoo" i "Xiu" wydane kolejno w latach 2011-1012.

This track is taken from a film directed by Serbian Darko Bajic titled "Black Bomber". The film plot is about an independent radio host Crni (Dragan Bjelogrlic) and the rock singer Luna (Anica Dobra) who are fighting the authorities ruling Belgrad in non-democratic way. They both are cruising their pick-up truck with built-on studio broadcasting their own radio program.

This track is taken from The Eden House's album "The Looking Glass" released in 2009. Originally sung by Icelandic singer/songwriter Bjork. The Eden House is a musical project created by Stephen Carey (one half of gothic rock band Adoration) and Tony Petit (founding member of  Fields Of The Nephilim) with sound engineer Andy Jackson (Pink Floyd, David Gilmour fame) and other fellow musicians like Simon Rippin (drums), Bob Loveday (violin)  fronted by female vocalists : Amandine Ferrari, Evi Vine, Julianne Regan, Monica Richards. Among other contributors we can see Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Simon Hinkler (The Mission , Laura Bennett, Jordan Reyne, Lee Douglas, Queenie Moy, Phoenix J. They released two studio albums "Smoke And Mirrors" back in 2008 and latest "Half Life" in 2013.

Zespół istniał w latach 1987 - 1994, w trzyosobowym składzie : Akos Kovacs, Zsolt Hauber, Gabor Menczel nagrał kilka albumów, jak również z dużym powodzeniem koncertował. W jego muzyce widoczne sa wpływy Depeche Mode, czy też Camouflage oraz zespołów spod znaku EBM takich jak A Split Second, Parade Ground, The Neon Judgement. Deak Gyula - "Bill" - wokalista zespołu Hobo Blues Band nagrał w 1984 roku solową płytę zatytułowaną "Rossz Ver", którą wydała węgierska wytwórnia płytowa Hungaroton. Szczęśliwie udało mi się ją wtedy nabyć, a następnie często odtwarzać. Utwór tytułowy "Rossz Ver" to spokojna bluesowa ballada, zaśpiewana mocnym głosem, z charakterystycznym dla Billa ładunkiem dramatyzmu.

In 1984 Deak "Bill" Gyula ( then singer in a Hungarian band Hobo Blues Band ) recorded a solo album which was released by a record label Hungaroton. Luckily I purchased this album at that time and I often played it on my gramophone. The album title song "Rossz Ver" is a gentle blues ballad sung by Bill with his strong voice.

Marcie’s Still Waiting – Sophisticated And Elegant

Today’s post is about a German band Marcie’s Still Waiting. Formed in 1984 by Rainer Spachmann (vocals, keyboards, guitars), Rainer Winschermann (saxophone, recording, mixing), Thomas Dobber (bass) and Frank Behnke (keyboards) it released in his short-term life only two EPs : “A Mysterious Song” in 1985 and “Mirrors And Daydream” in 1986. But in 2012 Winschermann’s indie record label Mollycat released a compilation   CDr  titled  “Marcie’s  Still  Waiting  in t he  80ies”  featuring  songs  from  band’s  first  EP   “A Mysterious Song” and six unpublished tracks which were recorded back in 1986. Their music can be classified as new wave, dark wave, cold wave touched by nostalgia and melancholy. In my opinion Marcie’s Still Waiting  is  one of the most underrated bands and should achieve much more recognition. In conclusion. W dzisiejszym poście słów kilka o niemieckim zespole Marcie’s Still Waiting. Zespół powstał w 1984 roku, a w jego skład  weszli Rainer Spachmann ( vocals, keyboards, guitars ), Rainer Winschermann ( saxophone, recording, mixing ), Thomas Dobber ( bass ), Frank Behnke ( keyboards ). Po wielu latach przerwy w 2012 roku staraniem należącej do Rainera Winschermanna wytwórni płytowej Mollycat została wydana kompilacja utworów Marcie’s Still Waitng „In the 80ies” zawierająca piosenki z pierwszej Epki oraz sześć wcześniej niepublikowanych kawałków nagranych jeszcze w 1986 roku. Muzykę jaką tworzyli muzycy Marcie’s Still Waiting można określić jako nową falę lub bliżej dark wave, czy cold wave, w której silnie odczuwane są klimaty nostalgii, czy melancholii. Myśle, że zespół ten został bardzo niedoceniony i zdecydowanie zasłużył sobie na znacznie większą popularność.
